November 15, 2007
Join schools across the country in celebrating Read to Me! Day as part of
National Children’s Book Week, November 12-16, 2007.
Schools are encouraged to invite parents, business partners, community
members and leaders into their classrooms to read to students as you
celebrate the joy for reading with hundreds of volunteer readers and
thousands of students statewide.
To help promote this special day, each principal receives one tube of
information mailed out to schools in October. Tubes contain Read to Me! Day
posters, tip sheets and stickers for the students. Also included is an
evaluation form to be turned in to The Education Alliance. In appreciation
for participation in Read to Me! Day festivities, The Education Alliance
sends one free book to the first 150 schools to submit their completed
evaluation forms. Special book provided in 2007 will be:
Grades K-2: John
Denver’s Grandma’s Feather Bed
A collaboration
of The Education Alliance and West Virginia Library Commission, this event
is funded with generous support from Equitable Resources. We share the goal
to encourage reading aloud to children every day.
