During our Annual Dinner on January 10, 2006, The Education Alliance was pleased to honor one of West Virginia’s most recognized advocates for public education, Speaker Robert S. Kiss. Sponsors for this dinner were Verizon at the Gold level and Bowles, Rice, McDavid, Graff & Love at the Silver level. There were approximately 190 people attending this event at the Charleston Marriott Ballroom.
 
Speaker Robert S. Kiss has served the public as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates since 1989 and as Speaker of the House since 1996. Current affiliations include the West Virginia State Bar, Florida State Bar, Ohio State Bar, Raleigh County Bar Association, Beckley Jaycees, Trustee for the West Virginia Catholic Charity Foundation, Honorary Chair for United Way and Beckley Renaissance.

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Speaker Kiss is currently a partner with the Bowles, Rice, McDavid, Graff & Love law firm in Charleston. His practice areas include estate planning, state tax litigation, state and federal taxpayer representation, business planning and commercial law.

As Speaker of the House, his committees include the Post Audits Subcommittee, Commission on Special Investigations and the Joint Committee on Government and Finance. He also participates as ex-officio on the Commission on Interstate Cooperation, Legislative Oversight Commission on Education Accountability and Legislative Rule-Making Review Committee.
